earl grey strong

What happened to the wonderful Earl Grey Teapigs with the dachshund on the packet? The delicate ones that tasted of bergamot? The bulldog "strong" is something else entirely, the black tea thuggishly overpowering the bergamot. Please bring back the dachshunds or I'll have to permanently switch to the Ceylon loose Earl Grey which tastes closest to my favourite Teapigs.

I was given the earl grey teabags as a gift some years ago and went to the loose tea as I find the bags too expensive. I used to buy from Amazon but it hasn't been on there for a while so I have been busy buying other makes as I didn't want to add postage by buying direct.
However, I can say I have tried so many I now can consider myself an expert on the best Earl Grey and it is definitely Teapigs
No other loose earl grey, regardless of price, comes anywhere near as good. It fully deserves 5 stars
Teapigs, Please do not alter your recipe (unless you add a little more bergamot & lime)

I've been drinking the loose leaf variety for while. Some say it's not like Earl Grey, but there is no standard Earl Grey to compare it with. You just have to find what you like, and I do like this. But, I was tired of the mess that goes with loose leaves so tried the bags. They don't contain the same tea. I was disappointed. Now, I'm back to the loose leaf variety but use bags that can bought empty for this purpose. That's a much better solution for me, and much cheaper.

For couple of years I've been slowly sifting through the variety of black tea blends and brands present on the russian market and all of them have the same taste except truly cheap ones that are closer to sewage than tea and some the the more expensive ones that have the taste of mold. The fact that a teabag that has the cost of 2 pennies had the same taste as the 1-pound one was quite distressing and I eventually abandoned my quest for a good tea. Come Christmas/New Year of 2020>2021 when I bought this particular tea because I liked the name and decided that it could at least serve as a joke. I was surprised by the taste that was much more prominent and vastly different from all others I tried and only got better when I(to the horror of everyone present) added milk to it. Definitely recommend to at least try it.
Sadly, this blend disappeared from the shelves of the only store that sold it even before sanctions and the war. Not the brand, mind you - only "earl grey strong". I am trying to order it in a roundabout way to avoid all the restrictions and economical blockades, but as of yet my efforts are fruitless.

I bought this as part of a kit with the strainer for a mug (which is pretty good). I have had it for a month or so and keep trying it but it is an acquired taste which I have yet to acquire. I didn't realise it would have such a strong lime flavour, which is strange and not really like Earl Grey. It is good strong tea for sure and looks very pretty in the jar but I regret buying two packs. It is clear some people love it so would suggest buying a sample or small pack if you have never tried it. Maybe I will be converted by the end of pack two in which case I will update my review if I can! It isn't horrible, just strange.
