sweet treat

This is a super popular tea, one of our most highly regarded and we absolutely love it! Keep a look out for “DAMAGED” packs in the drop down list. These might have slightly damaged outer packaging, but with perfectly good tea inside.

Wonderful liquorice! It’s been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine, it’s hugely popular with the Dutch and it tastes so much better with peppermint than in sherbet dips. That’s why we've blended pure liquorice root with whole peppermint leaves - it’s naturally sweet, unexpectedly refreshing and irresistibly moreish (if I say so myself).

I looked for and purchased this tea because I really enjoyed it at W hotel. But am a little disappointed that the taste is quite different to what I had that afternoon…

Insufficient warning re possible impact on blood pressure

I just want to say how much I agree with Lindsey Jacob’s comment. My blood pressure has gone sky high these last few weeks, and I have had serious headaches, and I have realised it’s thanks to Licorice in herbal tea bags. It’s soooo delicious and moreish - but too much of it can have a shocking effect. Please give more of a health warning - it seems irresponsible not to do so. 🙏
I also concur with her comments that other teapigs teas are delicious - especially mint tea bags.

Blood pressure warning

I understand there is clinical evidence that liquorice tea can raise blood pressure, even in people whose blood pressure was previously normal. I loved the sweetness of this tea and had been drinking several cups a day for years -until I read that it may be a contributor to hypertension. The ginger teas from this brand -also delicious- contain liquorice as well. So I have given them up too and hope to see an improvement in my blood pressure soon. Teapigs teas that contain liquorice do now carry a blood pressure warning. Unfortunately, in my experience, it is hard to find, especially online: putting the blood pressure warning under the heading ‘Ingredients’ may not be the most open and honest way to flag up the potential danger. I would like to see the warning up there with the main product description.
I will continue to drink teapigs products that do not contain liquorice as they are lovely tasting teas, but I am actually quite angry with the company for its lack of openness. Many of us drink herbal teas for health reasons, yet liquorice is known to raise blood pressure to levels that can be harmful to health.

Liquorice really is designed for tea

The most spectacular colours germinating from the bag will be the Liquorice, there to dominate your palate. Past the scent of Peppermint, comes the aftertaste, which is such a sweet high-tone, unexpectedly coating the upper palette.

I have never taken to Liquorice, but this is a keeper.

Paired with dark chocolate it sends the sweetness over the moon !

A sumptuous cuppa

Liquorice and Peppermint is by far my most favourite tea without milk, and the Teapigs brand, is of course, the best. Tea temples are quick and convenient to use, but for further indulgence and a delight to behold, I recommend a glass teapot and brewing from the leaves themselves. The only drawback of brewing a pot, is that if I leave it in the kitchen, my 16yr old son will help himself to the remainder of the pot and I have to start all over again! :) A superior brew, that can sometimes quell the desire for a sweet treat! I just love it.
